ARTIST BIO
As a self-taught musician, Sara Burns began playing guitar and singing when she was 12 years old. Currently, she has made a name for herself as one of the youngest solo entertainers on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and in the Lowcountry.
Sara immediately fell in love with the sound of classic rock. I love the 80s, and thats the truth. I remember one day, I went through my dads old CDs and fell totally in love with the sound of the 80s. You just dont hear that classic sound in todays music. Her obsession with oldies music introduced her to many of her favorite musicians, including Heart, Led Zeppelin, the Goo Goo Dolls, Def Leppard, the Beatles, the Carpenters, Aerosmith, U2, and Pat Benatar. The musicians who primarily influenced her acoustic style are the Goo Goo Dolls, Joni Mitchell, Lisa Loeb, the Indigo Girls, Jewel, Sugarland, Colbie Caillat, and Oasis.
Currently Sara sings popular cover songs for her gigs, mixed with some of her own original material. She is working on writing and recording more original music, so she can produce a CD. I guess I would describe my style as mellow acoustic-rock, but with my own flare to it. My lyrics are really personal in how they relate to my own experiences. I try to incorporate uniqueness to my music, so I dont sound like everyone else.
Its not enough for me to simply say that I have a passion for music, so Ill describe it: I have never found a greater feeling in my life than the feeling I get from sharing my music. Passion is there when you can actually feel the music. Your heart really has to be in it to pursue it.
